Thanks, Maria! Even if you can only get Stanley's books and "Overcoming the Dark Side of Leadership" they are definitely worth it. I really can't recommend them enough.

We are almost programmed growing up in the American church to say that Jesus and or God is the most important thing in our lives, but our time management shows a startling truth. In my life, I know I spend way too much time watching TV, facebook stalking, and reading, when I need to be focusing on my prayer life and bible study . Too many times the day comes to a close and I feel I didn't have enough time to spend with God, when in reality countless hours were spent wasting valuable time. I also feel like people are quick to answer that family and friends are the second most important thing in life after God, and yet, I am not pouring focused time, energy, and love into these people like I should. Sitting in a room with your family is not quality time when everyone is watching TV, on the laptop, and texting. After making time for God, we need to be investing and sharing in the lives of those around us.

I agree that it is essential to find a happy medium regarding routine. No, you do not want to become overly predictable or boring, but lack of routine may come across as unorganized or unsettling to students due to lack of structure. I think they should be able to rely on you and know what to expect when they meet. Although I do not currently work with youth, my opinion would be to find a structure that works for your group to provide stability, but always mix up your material, techniques, and activities to keep things fresh and interesting.

Well said, Ashley! In the end, Christian leadership comes down to glorifying God and drawing people to the One that our leadership comes from.
